I am originally from a small farming community in the South West of England, where I learnt how to raise my own heard of sheep and spent all my free time with the cows. My parents loved to travel, so as soon as we could walk - they took my older sister and I along with them. My favourite place was in New Delhi, where I would spend all my time in the local slum playing with the kids. I am extremely passionate about everyone receiving a fair and proper education. While I was waiting to begin my studies, I came to volunteer with a local NPO here in CPT for two weeks, but the moment I landed in Cape Town, I fell in love and decided I would stay a while. While here, a friend from the US mentioned to me that I should start a TED-Ed Club. I did and now I manage SAVE Foundation TED-Ed Clubs, which grew from 1 club with 7 students to 14 clubs with 175 students in just under year. I’ve been here for two years and I love my ‘adopted’ dog, Litchi, and can be found eating waffles at the beach every Sunday morning before taking a walk along the beach to ‘burn off the calories’.
